I hunt Union Grove, Northern Alabama in January. Usually around the 15th or so on. That seems to be pretty active chasing/rut period.
We do not hunt public land. Fortunate enough to have a good friend with a 500 acre horse/farm.
Have seen and shot some very nice deer in Alabama.
