Pushing light for caliber bullets at high speeds for deer seems like a recipe for bullet blow ups and lots of blood shot meat.
I've seen it with 7 Mags, 300 WM, etc... and it isn't pretty. Shooting a 300 Mag of any flavor, I would slow it down a bit and use a bullet that won't over expand at those speeds. In my experience, this starts at the 180 grain bullets with some type of controlled expansion. This would not include Ballistic tips and would be iffy on Partitions. If price wasn't a concern, I would go with Swift Aframes- most predictable expansion I've ever seen with any bullet I've ever used.
Heaven knows you will still have more than enough power to kill any deer on earth and elk, bear, moose, or rockchuck ever born.....
