I use my 22 rifles for hunting. Over 9X is useless for me due to tiny field of view. I shoot Richardson's Ground Squirrels @ up to/over 200 yards. I use an older Sightron II with very fine duplex crosshairs.
If I replaced my scope, it would be with the 3x9 Leupold EFR rimfire, BUT, practically speaking, the adj objective is of little value (to me). I've hunted Prairie Dogs with various adj ob. scopes on various center fire rifles for decades (still do). For fast action, they are more trouble than they are worth. Most dudes that come out here on PD hunts soon leave their adj ob scopes set at one distance and call it good. So do I.
