My wife was 5' 8" and 130-ish lbs. She had a Rem 722 rebarreled to 308 with a pachmayr decelerator recoil pad and a 4x weaver scope and did fine on everything up to and including Kudu.
If I had to do it over again, I'd do it over again the same.
And, I was into it all up maybe $400? Inexpensive, easy to fix and maintain, parts are everywhere. I think this is your huckleberry.
