They made the 7-08 / 788 Carbines only in the year they were discontinued. I bought the last one for sale in my area at a local Gibson's store. Seems like it was around 1981 or 1982, but I may miss it by a year or two.
Anyway, they didn't make many of them. Mine was a accurate SOB. I gave it to one of my nephews for his first deer rifle and he still hunts with it.
If they were only made 1 year, it could be more rare than the 30-30 and the 44. Those had a 3 year run. (68-70 I believe.)
