In my experience Vickerman-style seaters result in straight bullets--as long as the handloader does all the standard stuff, like selecting brass for reasonably consistent neck thickness, and sizing it straight.

When loading .17's I've mostly used Redding micrometer seaters, which work very well and are lot quicker.
