Proper scope selection completely evades me. I've paid decent money for some name brand scopes that have been junk. I also have a little no-name 4X scope that I bought on a whim for $40 at a dept. store several years ago that I've had on 3 or 4 rifles. It's surprisingly bright and clear and the focus can be dialed in as close as 10 yards, or so. I've been waiting for it to break for about 10 years but so far it refuses to do so. I've got it on a Kel-Tek SU16 right now. I've since bought a Redfield 2-7X33 to replace it, but it's dialed in tight at 100 yards and I hate to take it off.

Maybe it'll break this year.
