I live in Iowa. When my mother passed about 4 years ago, I put her obituary in several papers in Iowa. I don't believe I spent over 100 bucks for all of them together. That's what I was going by.

Neither are they mandatory, so were her kids spending big bucks to spite her? It's just a weird situation all the way around and one I'm glad to have no part in.
