In the 1-8 Ruger American I got from Whittaker Guns, the 70-grain Hornady GMX groups around .6 inch at 3400 fps with a max load Superformance powder. Got a very nice pronghorn buck in October at 350 yards, easily done because when sighted-in 2" high at 100 the POI is only slightly low at 350.
Could have dialed for longer ranges with the scope on the rifle, but couldn't even get a clear shot until within 350 due to the terrain. My wife and I use monolithics on antelope a lot due to less meat damage, since there ain't much meat even on a big buck. The GMX worked fine in all respects.
Dunno what we'll try next year. Eileen has a 1-8 twist Tikka T3X, also a limited run from Whittaker Guns, but did not draw an antelope tag. She will next year, thanks to bonus points, and early indications is that it may shoot even better than the RAR.
