Tried Paul's idea and wore the Peleton 240 instead of R1 or Sitka Heavyweight over FL Aerowool base layer. It was 30 up high in the Smokys today (above 4000 ft). I did sweat on the uphill parts of the hike but not excessively. We did an extended break to eat and didn't get cold either. The Aerowool/Peleton 240 dried pretty quick. For today's conditions and temps, I'm glad I had the Peleton 240 instead of thr R1. It was cool enough that the Peleton 240 was likely a better choice. I can see the 240 becoming a permanent part of the mid layers. Thanks for tip!
