My grandpa smoked a pipe all of the years I knew him (50) and I can never forget the smell of Velvet brand tobacco. My brother still has his old wrought iron pedestal ash tray, and you can still smell that tobacco! He quit smoking his pipe a week or so before he died at 93 in the hospital. He told me that he started smoking his pipe when he homesteaded in 1910.
