Thanks Pard. I picked up a small tube of Permatex today. Clerk too said to smear on all the threads.
If you do that, you will end up wiping up quite a bit of that will extrude out at the barrel/brake junction. I put a light coat on the first 25% of the threads. That is usually more than enough.
