My nephew tried that one Thanksgiving several years ago. Damned near burned down his house. After that, his wife said from then on, they'd just use the oven.

Next door neighbor, maybe 20 years ago is deep-frying a turkey.. on his deck. Decides he can drop the turkey into the hot oil and get away from the splash. Then the turkey hit the oil and all Hell broke loose. The turkey frier stand broke, the pot tipped, and hot oil went everywhere! People were burned badly and oil made a huge mess.
Not a fan of deep-fried turkey...
