I had a 70 Lemans converible I bought and kept for about 20 years. Sold it because it was taking up garage space and rarely was driven. It didnt get passed down from my dad.
Took me about 2 days to regret selling it.

My advice would be to change your plans, spend the couple hundred bucks to have the carb rebuilt and DRIVE IT. Sounds like there are a lot of family and personal memories in that car, (not many here could say they are driving their high school car) and you are very likely to have sellers remorse.
