So many people forget that the supply and demand curve works for the labor market, too. Increase the supply (women in the workforce, immigration, etc.) and the market-clearing price for labor sinks. Even at white-collar professional jobs. One example, engineering salaries, adjusted for inflation and pegged to durable good or metals, have not increased since 1973.

Don't be fooled by the neo-cons & neo-liberals who argue that the labor market is somehow immune and (fallback position) having women in their prime years in the workforce is a great thing, bigot.
