I spoke with Mark Bansner at this years DSC show and he is just now producing stocks for the M70 again. I agree with the above that his ergo's are spot on. I bedded my old tang Ruger Whelen
in one and took it to north BC for elk and moose.

With that stock or similar and with that scope or equivalent, this one would be pretty close to that weight. With the big Zeiss Victory 1.5-6 and Tupperware, It's around nine pounds, a pound and quarter more than yours. The scope and stock differences should account for most of the additional weight.

That's a nice set up. How much more recoil would I expect going that route?
