This Sheriff probably hates self reliant folks and blames gun owners of providing guns to the criminals. These guys know all about the latest gadgets but think they are the SME on guns because they went to a week long class on how to pass the qualification. Now THEY should be the only ones that should be allowed to have guns. Maybe the military too, but only if the Sheriff is in charge of the Generals.
