He wants to use 3M’s, now excess Chinese production, to fulfill US contract obligations. These are an inferior product. He said so himself. This is at least part of what he’s angling toward. Why wouldn’t he use his excess Chinese production to meet export market demand—to supplant the US produced product he can no longer ship out of the US. I’m guessing it’s because all those customers want the superior quality US produced product.

I found it ironic that two weeks ago, when media outlets were celebrating 3M, their commercial breaks featured ads for attorneys seeking to represent people who wore 3M’s substandard hearing protection while serving in the military— “ knowingly sold the dual-ended Combat Arms Earplugs, Version 2 (CAEv2) to the United States military without disclosing defects that hampered the effectiveness of the hearing protection device.”
