Ryan was a physical marvel. What he did will never be done again. 7 no hitters and 20+ years with a blazing fastball. Amazing !
Yes, he was & no, what he did will never ever be done again..............nothing even close, game & pitchers have changed too much.
I'd have to rank Ryan & Sandy Koufax as the two most game dominating pitchers I've ever seen...........Koufax's arm just didn't last nearly as long.
Both had incredible fastballs & curves that dropped off a table, enough control to pitch effectively & enough wildness to spook hitters.
Johnson, though surely great, is down the list a ways in my book.
