I want to upgrade the scope on my .338 Win Mag. I recently added a muzzle brake to the rifle. I do not dial so I am not worried about tracking at all. I have become a big fan of the illuminated dot reticles. The duplex fire dot from Leupold is great and I really like the Burris E dot illuminated. I bought 2 of those Burris Four X 1.5-6x42 from Doug to put on my deer rifles. They are awesome scopes for last minute Carolina deer & hogs.

The main thing I have concerns over is durability. I would think a braked .338 Win Mag could stress a scope pretty well. Over the last 21 yrs. on this .338, I have used Vari X III & VX III in 2.5-8 or 3.5-10. A few years ago I upgraded to the VX6 2.5-10x 42. Great optics but it does not have an illuminated dot reticle. No issues with any of those but that was when there was no muzzle brake on the rifle. Will the addition of the brake increase stress on a scope versus a non-braked .338??? I need the expertise of the ‘Fire on this. Thanks

PASS IT ON!
