I was raised there and my gun ranges were the prairie dog towns, creek bottoms, Canadian River breaks, and such.

Most modern gun ranges are a pain in the butt because of all the beginners and shooters with little common sense.

My favorite now is the range on the farm of a friend where I can shoot by myself and not worry about other folks.
