I threw a rod . The motor was barely out of warranty. Low hours. Dealer went to bat for me. No luck.

Dang, that’s a whack. Big engines can be big trouble.

I’ve got a 72 Model 6 hp that runs well and always has. One head gasket and found a brass prop for it to replace the beat up aluminum one. It’s hanging in my son in law’s shop right now.

All I can do at this point is keep my fingers crossed. My dealer swore by them as being one of the most maintenance and trouble free. My previous pontoon had a 1988 28 hp Evinrude that I bought new. With the exception of an ethanol gas problem, it never gave me any problems for 31 years.
