One beauty of the .45-70 is the great variety of factory ammo available. As Paco Kelly said "From Elves to Elephants".

Naturally, if the shooter hand loads, the possible load variety approaches infinity.
This little piggie (a 300 pound boar ) was taken with a 300 grain bullet loaded to 1600 fps and the recoil is almost zero.
