Not a movie, and if it were made into one it would be awful, but read the post apocalyptic book
Where late the sweet birds sang as an assignment in college and really enjoyed it.
Of course we had to write a paper about it and I have no recollection of what I wrote in 1983 but there are some very close parallels in it to the political/social group think we see today (and spoilers, it destroys one of the societies in the book). Well worth a read IMO.
