When I was younger man I got a screaming deal on a stainless synthetic BDL chambered in 338 ultra mag at scheels in Billings. Used it deer hunting for about 4 years loaded with 100 grains of reloader 22 and a 180 grain ballistic tip. At 3500 fps this load certainly did the trick. Sold the rifle to a friend who decided not purchase the hs precision stock that I had the rifle sitting in. He sent it off and had mercury recoil reducers installed in the buttstock of the original factory stock. He had me shoot it after that and it kicked more and didn’t shoot as well as it did with the HS. It’s one rifle I wish that I’d kept.
