Didn’t see that .450 in your other post. That’s more better for big Midwestern deer. At that price, it wouldn’t break the bank for an occasional foray to OH or IA, and ain’t as oogly as some of the other ones. A SS should offer some interesting handloading options too with all the .451-.452 bullets out there. From what I’ve seen online, the .45/70 version is pretty sporty on the back end, and I’m getting soft in my “extended middle age”.

My cousin used a borrowed RAR in OH to slay a humdinger out of a ground blind. 12 yards! Kaboom Flop.

I wouldn't worry about the cost of the rifle, deer tag in Iowa by itself is $644.

The 350 legend is legal in Iowa and Ohio.
