The two holes were there, gun is just as I bought it. In the close to 20yrs I've had it, I don't even remember coming close to it with a screwdriver. I put a box of ammo through it shortly after buying it just to check operation and that has been it.
Has had me stumped as to origin, 2 scenarios I guess- maybe put together by an employee (03/82) for a hunting trip to N Alberta and left up there ( where I bought it) or probably more likely someone bought a barrel from Numrich and figured out the
magazine issue which seems to have been a problem with others trying that.
