Remington 760. Glad I snagged one in 35 Remington when I did. And I'd vote for the 35 Remington if this discussion involved a caliber.
As for the 788 I have a custom job with a cut checkering stock. It's actually pretty. Then I had country gun works work over the trigger and it breaks clean at about 3.5 lbs. Smith said it ain't going to get any better than it is. Mine is in 223
