I'm in the same boat as the rest of you, no tags for me or my son. I figure someone has to draw those tags, so might as well give it a shot, even if the odds are terrible. As a resident, it is still going to be a cheaper hunt than going out of state on an outfitted hunt, but the problem is drawing a tag before you're too old to go hunting anymore. My Dad, who is 81 now, gave up putting in a few years ago. He's not able to hunt anymore, but when he stopped he had 20 weighted points. That's a long damn time to wait for a tag.
