Sounds a lot like "walking beans" up here - for us it was mostly pulling weeds, but sometimes we used hoes, hooks, or corn knives. (Still have the scar on my left index finger from careless use of the last.)

Not a real member - just an ordinary guy who appreciates being able to hang around and say something once in awhile.
