King Solomon’s Mines, by H. Ryder Haggard.

The Wind in the Willows, by Kenneth Grahame

Topper, by Thorne Smith

These are old books, but excellent. I would strongly suggest you invest in a Kindle and load it up. It takes up little space, weighs less than a paperback, and will run a long, long time on a charge as long as you keep the wifi off. One with backlight will let you read inside a dark tent. My Kindle is 11 years old, full of books, many of which were free, and keeps on truckin’. New ones are better.

Not so old, but full of action is The Hot Kid, by Elmore Leonard, creator of Raylan Givens and author of a whole passel of great westerns.

What fresh Hell is this?
