My father showed me what not to do. I'll give him credit for taking me out to the woods, we spent a lot of time in them. But he was doing some illegal stuff. Baited like no other before it was legal, he held the red light for me on several occasions. I didn't really think anything we were doing was wrong until I got a little older. Making a 10yo climb 50ft up a tree with only spikes in it. I rarely remember being tied in once we got up to that small 2x6 built platform. I started calling him out on it and it started some pretty big fights later on.


I havent done any of that with my sons. So far so good. I have stressed the importance of having your own land. And of course safety, my 10yo has shot his first doves this past couple weeks and its really kept me on my toes.
