I believe we are already fighting WW3 against COVID-19 and biological warfare weapons (funded by our own gov by way of DNA genetic engineering and synthetic biology). Research for years has been funded and approved by the NIH and NIAID under Tony F and taken place in BSL-4 labs in the US.
I agree with you when it comes to the US, but that does not make it WW3, IMO. I think the bio, economic and cyber attacks will continue too. All with plausible deniability. The power of these kinds of attacks is that it is very easy with propaganda to shift and cloak who did what and when. You can't drum up popular support for something as serious as a kinetic war with a peer(China) when you "can't be sure". Innuendo and rumor is fine when you want to attack goat herders.
