Met a fellow with a 458 Win Mag years ago. He bought his Model 70, took it to Africa and killed lots of things, including Cape Buffalo with it.
As we were shooting it at the range he told me that he'd planned to sell it upon his return to the USA, but he liked the rifle so much that he couldn't part with it. Instead he took up handloading and used it on black bear & whitetail deer.
As I recall, he used the 400 grain Speer, but... That was a long time ago and I'm not sure of that.
