I think the Hoffman boots I'm using now are the best I've tried. The fit feel, arch support, the sole traction, and pretty quiet.
I'd recommend 1/2 size bigger than you wear in leather work boots. I usually wear a 9D in Georgia boots, and a 9EE in Thorogood,
In the Hoffman Explorer I bought a 9W but in really steep downhill my toes start to rub.
