When I oil leather extra virgin olive oil is exactly what I use. Well known local saddle maker turned me onto it years ago. I only oil my saddles once a year. You do not want to over oil your leather. I do it the once, then any other time through the year I use skidmores or saddle butter or chap wax on my leather that is going to be exposed to the elements. If you use a lot of olive oil on your leather, it will turn a pretty red color. Which does not bother me.
