Over the last two or three years a single shot has been my go to rifle. I've done custom #1's in 7/08, 300 H&H, and 300 Savage and a High Wall in 38/55. You should see the looks I get in deer camp with my single shots especially the 405 and 450/400. I took a #1 in 250 Savage to Texas last fall and shot a nice blackbuck at close to 300 yards. I believe my shooting has improved since I began using a single shot.
good for you , we have 4 hunters at my camp hunting this year all of us used Ruger # 1`s , my son ,son in law ,10 yr,old grandson and myself we all like these single shot Rugers .
