Local fisherman, while a soldier in Vietnam did some rigging and splicing for his Sargent etc.. When he came home he took his skill and networking to form a company that now builds helicopter "Fast Lines" for the military (GSA Schedule stuff). Company became huge in a tiny tiny town. My guess is that every "Fast Line" used by any Vet here... or any SEAL Team currently... came from Diggs, VA.

SUPER FRIENDLY PEOPLE!!!

Modern ropes like Spectra or Dyneema etc. are insanely strong and lightweight. Like pick up a Cummins engine with a 1/4" rope strong.

9mm rope is over 7 tons on breaking.

AMAZING STUFF... but it hates sharp edges.

Edit... OPR can also splice in eyes or whatnot. Full service Company.

I stopped in Ocean Products Research on Thursday and asked Terry for a price on "100 feet of 1/2" Spectra (Amsteel) with one eye." $300 + tax.

Stuff retails at $3.50 a foot.

I know... crazy expensive, but about 25,000 pound of usable strength.

The 1/4" is around 7,000 pound of usable strength.

If you are not actively engaging EVERY enemy you encounter... you are allowing another to fight for you... and that is cowardice... plain and simple.
