Gosh ,I think for me it boils down to not wanting to face my poor marksmanship ! I force myself to offhand the closer gophers and surprise myself sometimes .Because we own these very accurate well scoped rifles I think that causes us to think it is a waste use them in a way that is less than ideal . Just my opinion.
