Those that I have seen photos of have a few distractions: wood blemishes or wood that not any wish to have and bluing problems. Many hide the critical areas in displaying the photos: some chopping off the butt stock, all not showing the breech or bolt face. One seller on Gunbroker said the bluing discoloration was from fingerprints. Well, if any believe that I cannot determine fingerprints from discoloration, this is merely conjecture and foolhardy. And, all offer no returns, sold as is and final. What I believe is that those models being sold are ones that not anybody wishes to buy. I've searched GunsInternational, Guns.com, GunsAmerica, and every possible outlet online. I even called local gun shops in my area and there is no response. One person (Nagels) was offering one but said he did not know how to send pictures to email. After looking up the reviews, I found Nagels to be a shady seller with many negative comments. I’m certainly ‘not’ purchasing without seeing photos, even if “new”. Many leave the details out, what’s in the box or date of manufacture. Apparently, this is business 101. I was almot ready to purchase on Gunbroker, but the person who had the item was too greedy for me. I said to conduct the transaction away from Gun broker, saving him $250.00 plus an additional 3.5% he would have to pay. He agreed, but would not budge on the price even when it stated “Make Offer“. Anyway, the price was $1229.69 shipping included ($60.00); somewhat high for I ship guns as well and I know the prices. I offered him $1200.00 and apparently he was not accepting that sum. He can take the item with him for I’m not purchasing there.

Anyways, I called Winchester and they said they're still being manufactured. I said but no one has them. Winchester said to call a dealer and they could order. I tried that avenue and was unsuccessful. Could any provide insight here or point me in the right direction. All replies are welcome.

What chambering are you looking for? You may want to post a WTB in the classifieds here. There are a lot of guys here with model 70's.

A .270. Looked at the 6.5 PRC and 300 WSM and I still revert back the .270. I believe the 6.5 PRC wears a 24" barrel which is a good point. However, the . 270 fitted with a 22" barrel is close to the 6.5 PRC and 300 WSM. Maybe a bit more energy with the other two and a little less wind drift. Not really seeking to hit anything at 1400 yds. so it is somewhat irrelevant. The twist being 8 with the other two is insignificant to me. A 10 spiral works fine. My .300 Win Mag. is deadly accurate and has plenty of stopping power. In terms of looking on the classifieds is a possibility but why would any be selling "new", only to make a profit? The BACO guns seem to have very nice inletting and metal to wood seems excellent, more so than my New Haven model. Thanks very much.

Yep, good luck with your search. Hopefully there is one out there that is very nice and less money than what you were quoted. That seems high to me. The new model 70's are pretty nice. Some nicer than others though, as you already know..
* Yes, the price is high but there are far worse, namely JD Outfitters out of Oklahoma. I believe he enjoys the action but it is only for short time. He never answered me via email and when I called him last year, he was just as adamant.
