1- in 2016, the Left was ready to hand out HRC President and extend the Obama Progressive take over for 16 years. That would include putting Garland on the Supreme Court. Liberal/Leftist dream come true. A Left leaning SC with control of the the WH and Congress in sight.
Trump scuttled all that. Immediately 30% of the country hated him. He crushed their dream that was thought to be a slam dunk.
2- next Dems figured they could drive him out of office by resignation by applying pressure or impeachment. It didn’t work. Instead, he fought back. That’s never happened
3- by being a feisty, vulgar, loud, pushy New Yorker, he alienated the mushy middle of Karen and Ken Swing voters that hate confrontation and conflict and believe NPR is balanced, and therefore bought that Trump is mean. They don’t like mean
