Burns and brain trauma can take some time to set in. That's why anybody middle aged or older needs to take every bump on the head serious. I saw a friend go home after a fender bender, and two hours later, was rushed to the emergency room with a slow brain bleed. In older folks, it's sort of like Shaken Baby Syndrome.
