I had a couple of rifles that shot well with bore butter, Crisco, or lithium grease and two that would not group at all until all that bore butter was cleaned out. I eventually learned the "history and marketing" of bore butter and never touched the stuff again I use Ballistol for patch lube and bear oil or CLP for lubrication and rust preventative.
