Pete, the ideal for me would be a one and done, but my bottom line is getting that deer on the ground as quickly and humanity as possible.and hunting where I do, brush deflection happens. This year and last, both bucks needed a second follow up shot and a bolt action with cartridges in the magazine was a welcome alternative to a single shot. Cold fingers with a glove I don’t think would give me the dexterity that I’d need for a smooth follow up shot. I have thought about a Merkel or a Dakota, but they just don’t fit with my brush cover deer hunting.

i have a stand in a thick Tamarack swamp with 15 feet wide long shooting lanes, i understand sometimes i don`t get the shot ,but if i do its one and done .
