A customer brought a Weatherby Mark V in 460 Weatherby and a Ruger M-77 in 458 Winchester Magnum to the range where I worked. The range was rated for 50 BMG, so we shot them indoors on the 25-yard range.

The 458 (500-grain bullet at about 2,100 fps) was much worse than the 460 (500-grain bullet at 2,700 fps). The 460 had the classic Weatherby stock and a brake. Recoil was heavy but not as sharp as expected, and it seemed to last a lot longer than I expected. The barrel just kept rising until it was about 45 degrees in the air.
