A cheap knife that has impressed me and is much in the same line as the Opinel folders is the Svord Peasant knife. Made in New Zealand these knives are a no frills basic design with good carbon steel. They are prone to tarnishing and rusting if neglected but what does one expect in a cheap knife. I am impressed with the edge that one can get from them and they do hold that edge well in use.
