Charles Bronson took the right approach in the "Death Wish" series of movies. If one of my family got that sort of treatment, there wouldn't be a hole deep enough for those scumbags to crawl into where I couldn't find them. Their fate wouldn't be quick, or merciful. Branding irons and dismemberment one joint at a time with a pair of dull limb loppers comes to mind.
