A properly fitted N95 was all I wore doing TEEs on COVID patients in the ICU. Worked perfectly.

Granted, you have to actually use it correctly and not touch your face without washing your hands etc...

I never wore a PAPR and never got COVID from the hospital.

Paper/cloth/non fitted masks are more about feelings than protection.
