Would I have attempted that shot with a 250 Savage, or any 25 caliber using 100 grain anything...................HECK NO!
Why not? Instead of aiming at its ass (or right above it), just aim a skinch higher and blast him in the back of the neck or the back of the head. Heck, at only 70 yards I could've killed that deer standing like that with a .22 Hornet. Lights out.
