I always felt like a warmly-loaded 7mmRM was the top end of the recoil level I was willing to put up with for the game I'm shooting. No doubt a .300Wby or .300RUM eclipses it for power, but it is beyond my ability to shoot it well. The 7mmRM sits right in the middle between the 270/280 and those .300 Magnums, so it's simply another notch in the belt to pick from.
